Thanks For Visiting my site!
I was three years old when i decided to become a Nordic Combined athlete. At my home in Calgary we live very close to the ski jumps. Almost every day my mom and I would drive by Canada Olympic Park where the ski jumps stood tall on top of the hill. At the time i had no clue what Nordic Combined or Ski Jumping was, to me the towers just looked like giant slides that threw you through the air. I still remember the day i told my mom that i wanted to go off the ski jumps, i also clearly remember the look of her face after i told her.
By the time i was 6 I still had the dream and desire to fly through the air, my mom found a program called Altius Nordic Ski Club that allowed me to come to the jumps and try it out. From there on i was hooked, I had played soccer, i had alpine skied, and played hockey, but there was nothing like the feeling of rushing down an in run and then flying through the air. The sport was truly something i had never experienced before.
Next I was introduced to cross country skiing, the sport for me was just another fun activity that went along with Ski Jumping. Fortunately Nordic Combined allowed me to Ski Jump and Cross Country ski, from there on there wasnt much else that I wanted to do other then that.
Today I am one of Canada's top Nordic Combined athletes and hopefully one day will become one of the world's top Nordic Combined Athletes as well. The sad truth is that the sport of Nordic Combined in Canada is not very popular, and is slowly starting to dissapear. Originally my dream was to become one of the best athletes in the world. Today my dream is to change the way that Canada see's the sport all together.
